Je rigole.  We were visiting the brocante, but now we’re having drinks on the terrasse at Po.Za.Da, Maggie and Augustin’s old hangout.

vieenrose:

A quick au revoir to PoZaDa. First date, local place.

Ah the rillettes de thon at PoZaDa.  The best in Paris (that I’ve tried at least).

I’m finally getting around to writing about my first über foodie experience in Paris.  When Erin was visiting me a few weeks ago, we decided to try our luck at Le Chateaubriand, one of the most hyped restaurants in Paris and the current brainchild of “rock-star chef” Inaki Aizpitarte.  We happened to be in the neighborhood earlier in the day and so we stopped in to see if we could make a reservation for that evening.  How silly of us.  The first service (20h30) is reservation only and needs to be booked months in advance.  However, the hostess told us to show up at 21h30 and we would be guaranteed a table for the second seating (around 22h), which is first come first serve.  Apparently we weren’t the only ones who knew about this however, because when we arrived there was already a line out the door and spilling on to the sidewalk.  I would definitely recommend getting there a bit earlier since they seat people for the second service as soon as a table opens up and because we were towards the back of the line we didn’t sit down until 23h30!  But it was definitely worth the wait.  I’m not a food critic, so I won’t even attempt to describe the food except to say that it was delicious and beautifully presented.  It is a five-course tasting menu (no choices - everyone gets the same thing) and I really enjoyed it since I rarely have the chance to indulge in this type of dining experience.  Partly because it is expensive, but also partly because DD doesn’t eat any meat (only seafood) and there is almost always a meat course or two.  So who wants to visit me next so that I can try it again (the menu changes daily)?

While waiting to be seated for the second service, the restaurant offers everyone a complimentary drink from the bar.  How nice of them!  Erin and I were feeling festive so we each chose a glass of pink sparkling wine.
